Lossie Seafood is in discussions with Howie to do the last talk.
THROUGH THE BOTTLENECK

Is there any way out of the economic trough that we seem to be plunging into? A way to work ourselves back to prosperity and tackle at the same time fundamental problems of environment and resources? Over the weeks ahead a series of speakers will look at potential areas of opportunity, in aspects such as community energy schemes, eco-buildings, new crops and food products, and new approaches to economic modelling. Howie Firth introduces the series on February 26 with an overall assessment of the challenges, and a quotation from the American sociobiologist Edward O. Wilson:
"Science and technology, combined with a lack of self-understanding and a Palaeolithic obstinacy, brought us to where we are today. Now science and technology, combined with foresight and moral courage, must see us through the bottleneck and out."
