International Association of Science Parks Conference

New Park was represented at the 25th World Conference of the International Association of Science Parks in Johannesburg, South Africa. David Williams, based at Horizon Scotland, presented the paper “Seven Strategic Issues for STP Management; Two Perspectives” to the first plenary session of the conference which was attended by over 450 science park professionals from over 59 countries. David said “having the opportunity to meet so many knowledgeable people and discuss science park development and the role business incubators have to play was really useful”; he added “presenting my ideas to such a large number of my peers was a real buzz”. The conference was held over four days under the theme “The role of Science Parks in accelerating knowledge economy growth – contrasts between emerging and more developed economies” This is the first time the IASP has held an event in Africa.
